The Confident Communicators Gavel Club is a participant-facilitated group focusing on public speaking and leadership. It is affiliated with Toastmasters International and was developed by MnCAN specifically for people with aphasia.
Participants will work on public speaking skills through prepared talks and impromptu short talks — all while being supported by volunteers and the Speech Pathologist. The group is overseen by aphasia survivor, Jeannie Bridgeman, Gavel Club President, and current member of a local Toastmaster club. Jeannie can be reached at jbridgeman620@gmail.com.
A person with any level of aphasia can join – we use whatever works to communicate ideas. It is a way to challenge yourself to go farther with communicating while still being in a safe and supportive environment.
Each participant will take on a role as well such as – timekeeper, evaluator, wordmaster, toastmaster, table topic master.
