Day 29 of MnCAN’s 30 Days of Life with Aphasia — Meet Angie!

Angie is an integral part of MnCAN, and her influence is felt in every corner of the organization. As Executive Director, she carries a wide range of behind‑the‑scenes responsibilities that keep programs running smoothly, support volunteers and participants, and ensure MnCAN continues to grow with purpose. Through all of this, she remains closely connected to the heart of the mission, empowering individuals with communication challenges and nurturing a community where everyone feels seen and valued.

Across all her roles, Angie leads with compassion and kindness. Her passion for MnCAN’s mission is evident in the way she listens, the way she welcomes each new participant during onboarding, how she collaborates, and the way she shows up for others. Whether she’s coordinating programs, mentoring students, or celebrating a participant’s breakthrough moment, Angie brings a level of dedication that elevates MnCAN.

People light up when they see Angie because she is so easy to connect with, and that warmth begins long before she ever walks into a room. For most participants, she is the very first person they meet—the reassuring voice during intake who offers steadiness at a moment that can feel vulnerable or uncertain. From that first conversation onward, she doesn’t just get to know the participant; she learns about their spouses, children, and care partners. She remembers their stories, their challenges, and the people who matter most to them.

That relational depth stays with her as she guides each person into the right programs, celebrates their progress, and makes sure they always feel supported within the MnCAN community. When she steps into a MnCAN event, or is facilitating her conversation group, she brings a sense of comfort, joy, and belonging that instantly shifts the atmosphere, creating the kind of welcoming energy that makes every MnCAN gathering feel more like community than program.

We are so grateful to have her on our team!
