Day 23 of MnCAN’s 30 Days of Life with Aphasia — Meet Rodney!

Rodney is one of those people whose smile can brighten an entire room. He has been part of the MnCAN community for several years and has been a dedicated friend and supporter to his fellow participants from the very beginning.

Living with aphasia is not easy, but Rodney approaches life with determination, flexibility, and creativity. He continually finds ways to communicate, connect, and stay engaged with the people and activities he enjoys.

Recently, during a group discussion, Rodney was asked what was most important to him. His response was simple but powerful:

“I just like life.”

Anyone who knows Rodney knows how perfectly those words capture his outlook. He brings positivity, encouragement, and a genuine interest in others wherever he goes.

Rodney enjoys karaoke, and if you ask him about music, there’s a good chance Elton John will come up as one of his favorites. He also loves the beauty of the mountains, enjoys a good chicken dinner, and appreciates spending time with friends.

Perhaps one of Rodney’s greatest strengths is his ability to connect with people. Whether he’s meeting someone for the first time or catching up with a longtime friend, Rodney has a gift for making people feel welcome. He’s the kind of person who can strike up a conversation almost anywhere, and he refuses to let aphasia define him or slow him down.

Rodney reminds all of us that while aphasia may change the way we communicate, it doesn’t change who we are. His positive spirit, resilience, and love for life continue to inspire everyone around him.

Thank you, Rodney, for your friendship, encouragement, and the joy you bring to the MnCAN community. We are so glad to know you!
