Message from the Directors:

As we step into March and the promise of spring, we are reminded that this season is one of renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings. Longer days and brighter light bring a sense of hope — something we see reflected every day within our MnCAN community.

Just like spring, recovery and connection unfold in their own time. Growth may feel gradual, but it is always meaningful. We are continually inspired by the courage, resilience, and dedication of the individuals and families we serve. Thank you for trusting us with your stories, your journeys, and your continued progress.

MnCAN is more than programs and groups — it is a community rooted in compassion, understanding, and belonging. Each of you plays an important role in making this space supportive, welcoming, and strong.

As we move into this new season together, we are grateful for the light you bring to MnCAN.

We are cheering for you!

Jessica Wald and Angie Maier, Executive Directors

Want to make a community impact? Are you passionate about aphasia awareness, advocacy, and education?

The National Aphasia Association continues to be a national leader in advancing aphasia awareness, education, and support. They have launched an Aphasia Ambassador Program to help expand education and awareness in communities across the country.

Minnesota currently has five NAA Aphasia Ambassadors—and four of them are from Minnesota Connect Aphasia Now (MnCAN)!

The more we share information and raise awareness in our communities, the more we can help create a truly aphasia-friendly world where individuals living with aphasia are supported, understood, and included.

Care Partner and Participant Resources

Minnesota Connect Aphasia Now (MnCAN) has recently collaborated with the Normandale Center for Healing & Wholeness. Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to present to their community about aphasia, primary progressive aphasia (PPA), and MnCAN programs.

We are excited to continue this partnership, as the Normandale Center will be presenting to our PPA Care Partner group in April. They are a wonderful resource within our community and offer a variety of supportive services for individuals and families.

Some of the services they provide include:
• Care Consultation
• Caregiver Support
• Community Education and Workshops
• Visiting Volunteers and Respite
• Medical Equipment Loans

We are grateful for community partners like the Normandale Center who help support and empower caregivers and families.
