Registered 75+ guests (and counting!) for our upcoming Gala

(If you haven't registered yet, click the orange button on the left to get your ticket today!) We can't wait to celebrate with all of you on September 21st from 3-6 pm!

Hosted 45 participants and care partners at our MnCAN Pizza Party Social

Met with 17 people during our PPA Support Group

We are so grateful for the incredible support of our community as we continue building connections, reducing isolation, and creating opportunities for people with aphasia and PPA.

Continuously grateful and humbled,

Angie Maier and Jessica Wald
MnCAN Executive Directors and Speech-Language Pathologists

Our MnCAN Gala is just around the corner and we want YOU to be there!

We are honored to feature two inspiring keynote speakers this year—one sharing their journey with aphasia after a stroke, and the other sharing their experience with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), a neurodegenerative disease caused by frontotemporal dementia.

Hear directly from our keynote speaker, Rita Scholl, a MnCAN Participant who has PPA, as she shares why your support means so much to her and to the entire MnCAN community. (See video below )

Together, we are raising awareness, building connection, and making sure no one walks this journey alone.

MnCAN Pizza Party

Connection is the feeling of being seen, heard, and valued—of knowing you’re not alone. It’s built through shared experiences, mutual support, and moments of genuine understanding.

At MnCAN, connection is at the heart of everything we do. We deeply love our MnCAN community and were so happy to celebrate with all of you at our recent MnCAN Pizza Party—a joyful evening honoring our supporters, participants, care partners, and the strong, resilient community we’ve built together.

Thank you for showing up, for sharing stories, and for reminding us why this work matters. We’re grateful for every one of you.

We are so excited to officially welcome Nicole Davis, Speech-Language Pathologist, to our MnCAN staff team as of July 28th!

Nicole has been part of the MnCAN community for about a year and, over the past 8 months, has generously stepped in to help facilitate multiple conversation groups. Now, she’s joining us in an official role as a Group Facilitator, while also supporting our MnCAN Directors with all things MnCAN as a MnCAN employee.

If you haven’t met Nicole yet, we encourage you to introduce yourself and say hello!  Her passion and enthusiasm for supporting those living with aphasia and PPA is truly palpable, and we could not be more thrilled to have her on the team.

  • We are looking forward to fall programs starting back up in September.
  • Fall tuition invoices have been sent. If you need help making a payment, please reach out to us at contact@mncan.org.
  • Our upcoming Staying Connected Primary Progressive Aphasia Class is happening again this fall. This class is offered twice year. Please review the details and let us know if you or someone you know would like more information. Two spaces still available!

Our MnCAN community has spoken and we’ve been listening. We know how important it is for our participants and families to connect with others who truly understand the journey. Building connections and reducing isolation are at the heart of MnCAN, and our monthly community gatherings have already been so rewarding for everyone involved.

We’d love for you to join us this Friday, August 22nd, at the Wayzata Lunds & Byerlys Community Room to relax, chat, and get to know our community even better.

We look forward to seeing you there!

We are looking for artists and makers in our MnCAN community to help us design NEW MnCAN t-shirts and coffee mugs. Have a fun idea or design in mind? We would love to see it!

Also, as we prepare for our Break the Barriers Gala in September, we look forward to featuring original art and handmade crafts in our silent auction. If you have a creative project you would be willing to donate, it is a wonderful way to share your talent and support MnCAN.

Let’s celebrate the creativity of our community together!

If you are interested in submitting a design or donating a piece, please email contact@mncan.org.
