It's one of our favorite times of year

June is Aphasia Awareness Month!

This month we are counting on YOU - our participants, care partners and supporters to help spread awareness of aphasia and MnCAN programs!

According to the National Aphasia Association, 2 million people in the United States have aphasia, but 84.5% of the general population has never heard the word aphasia.

Here are some of the things you can look forward to this month:

  • A recorded interview with Eugene, a person with PPA, and his care partner, Nancy
  • A recorded interview with a group of four MnCAN friends with aphasia
  • Aphasia education that can be shared with family, friends, neighbors and community members
  • Extra posts and information on our social media pages
  • Access to our fundraising campaign pages that includes a friendly competition for MnCAN groups (the group who raises the most money will receive a pizza or food party of choice)!

Eugene, a musician in the St. Paul area, was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia in 2017. We sat down with Eugene and Nancy to learn more about living with PPA.

Thank you for being a part of something incredible for people with aphasia and primary progressive aphasia.

And for those of you living with aphasia, we thank you for being courageous and inspirational as you participate in life! If you would like us to add your name and aphasia story to any of the "teams" on the campaign page, please email us at contact@mncan.org.

Grateful for your support,
