Julia!

MnCAN's founding Executive Director worked her final day with us on February 3rd. 

Julia is such a prominent piece of MnCAN's history and success over the past nine years. There is no doubt that without her we would not be where we are today!

When MnCAN was born in 2013 there were 30 participants enrolled across six programs. But, Julia knew there was a greater need!

Julia went on to increase outreach, spread awareness and develop a diverse variety of programming for people with aphasia and primary progressive aphasia (PPA).

Today Julia's efforts are greatly reflected, as MnCAN has 89 registered participants across 20 programs! This exceptional growth is due to Julia's unwavering determination to serve those with aphasia and their care partners!

There is so much to be said about Julia. Her commitment to MnCAN, our participants, and the aphasia community in Minnesota is just the start! She is a successful speech language pathologist, a phenomenal mentor, and a steadfast advocate for all persons with aphasia! 

Julia is, and always will be, recognized as MnCAN's founding Executive Director. With the utmost respect and gratitude, we express our appreciation for Julia's dedication to MnCAN over the past nine years! 

Congratulations Julia, and best wishes to you as you embark on life's newest journey!

MnCAN's Drama Club and Gavel Club have submitted pieces to be featured during the National Aphasia Association's virtual Night of Aphasia Arts on Tuesday, March 7th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm CST!

The event will feature musical, dance, theatre and poetry performances, as well as visual art, photography and written poetry. Register now to support MnCAN participants along with the national aphasia population!
