A Message from MnCAN's Executive Director:

With the New Year in full swing, we are taking time to reflect on what we are grateful for, the achievements made in 2022, and what is to come this year!

We are so thankful to have such dedicated employees, group facilitators, students, volunteers and board members. We could not serve the aphasia community without your efforts and commitment!

We cannot thank YOU, our donors and supporters, enough for your generosity. Every contribution you make helps sustain our day-to-day programs and services, which is truly invaluable to our participants, their care partners and families! We are so grateful to have you as a part of our MnCAN community! 

How fortunate we are to bring such a strong, connected community with us on our journey in 2023! We look forward to having you by our side as we make strides to Break more Barriers, and further serve the aphasia community this year!

We Ended 2022 with Triumph

Because of You, our generous donors and supporters, we raised a total of $5443 during our 2022 End-of-Year Campaign! Thank you so much for thinking of MnCAN and the aphasia community during your Holiday Season!

In December, MnCAN also received a grant from the Metro Regional Arts Council! This grant is directed to MnCAN's Drama Club, and will help support the program throughout the entirety of 2023!

Winter Session Starts Next Week!

Registration for our Winter 2023 session is underway! Due to high levels of interest, we have implemented a NEW Virtual Conversation Group to meet the needs of the aphasia community. The group will start this session!

We are excited to be serving more participants than ever! 

Welcome Jessica Wald!

Jessica Wald, MA CCC-SLP,  has been a medical Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for the past 20 years working in the hospital setting. She graduated from St. Cloud State with a double major in Biomedical Sciences and Communication Disorders and got her Masters degree from the University of MN -Twin Cities.

While in graduate school, Jessica participated in an aphasia conversation group and an intensive aphasia camp. These experiences helped ignite her passion and interest in working with individuals with aphasia.

For the past 13 years Jessica has been in a leadership position at United Hospital in St. Paul, and now continues to work as an SLP at multiple Allina Hospitals. She has a passion for education and has taught classes on empathy, communication and patient experience.

Jessica looks forward to bringing her clinical experience, her strong sense of compassion and humor to MnCAN in order to improve functional communication skills and life participation to MnCAN’s communication group participants.

MnCAN's 2023 Break the Barriers Fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday September 24th, and will be held at Oak Ridge Country Club in Hopkins! We have our sights set high for a record-breaking annual event. Mark your calendars now!
