SUMMARY:Virtual Zooom Rooom Aphasia Conversation Group
DESCRIPTION:Aphasia conversation groups are 6-7 people with aphasia who gather to practice conversation techniques and find connection. The groups are facilitated by a speech language pathologist and focus on both the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) and Supportive Conversation for Aphasia (SCA). Conversation groups are a great opportunity to gain confidence and build friendships to continue to participate in life with aphasia. \nRegistration is required. SUMMARY:Virtual PPA Staying Connected Education and Support Program
DESCRIPTION:The Staying Connected program is designed for people diagnosed with PPA in the first 1-2 years.  It will be 8 weeks in duration. Following completion of the Staying Connected program\, a monthly PPA support group is offered.\n\nThis program is an introductory 8-week session for persons with PPA and their care partners offered twice yearly. A care partner is requested to attend the group with the person with PPA during the program. The overall program goals are to offer support to both the care partner AND person with PPA in order to: \n\nlearn about the characteristics and challenges of PPA\nhelp to cope with limitations and language decline\nprovide an experience of increasing self-confidence\ndiscover and practice different strategies that maximize communication between care partners and individuals with PPA\nprovide a safe environment to express and discuss concerns among peers\n\n
